Volkswagen Recalls Touareg, Porsche Cayenne
The global recall, aimed at fixing a potential brake pedal problem, affects more than 800,000 SUVs in the 2011-2016 model years.

Volkswagen and its Porsche unit are recalling 800,477 2011-2016 model-year Touareg and Porsche Cayenne SUVs globally because of a potential braking problem.
In the U.S., the recalls affect 46,700 Volkswagen Touareg and 88,300 Porsche Cayenne vehicles, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
In these SUVs, the brake pedal pivot pin may be missing a circlip, allowing the pivot pin to move and the brake pedal to dislodge, NHTSA reported. As a result, the driver may be unable to apply the brakes.
The brake pedal issue was spotted during internal inspections and remedied in production. There have been no reports of related accidents or injuries, the automakers said.
To remedy the problem, dealers will inspect the brake pedal assembly to verify the presence of the circlip. If needed, the circlip will be replaced, free of charge.
