Veolia Launches Propane Autogas Taxi Fleet in Baltimore, Plans to Convert 250 Taxis
BALTIMORE - The company plans to convert 50 Checker Yellow taxis in Baltimore by the end of 2012, and a total of 250 more taxis in Pittsburgh, Jacksonville, Fla., and Denver.
BALTIMORE – Veolia Transportation is committing to propane autogas as a fuel source for taxis in a number of U.S. cities. The company plans to convert 50 Checker Yellow taxis in Baltimore by the end of 2012, and a total of 250 more taxis in Pittsburgh, Jacksonville, Fla., and Denver.
Veolia is converting these vehicles under the Southeast Propane Autogas Development Program (SPADP), which is a public-private partnership. The company also installed an autogas fueling station in Baltimore to fuel 50 Checker and Yellow taxis.
Veolia operates a total of 700 taxis in Baltimore, under the company names of Yellow, Checker, and Sun Cabs in Baltimore City, and Jimmy's Cab in Baltimore County.
