TOKYO --- Though the growth rate of Prius sales has slowed in recent months, U.S. sales of the car are still up 70 percent so far this year. In a Los Angeles Times interview with Tokuichi Uranishi, Toyota's head of global marketing, he said there are no specific plans to develop other body styles for the Prius. However, he admitted that a Prius minivan was a future possibility. It's "something that is desirable from a marketing point of view," he told the Times. "I think we should have a minivan hybrid in the U.S." Toyota already has a hybrid minivan that's sold in Japan: the Estima Hybrid. The Times reported that Uranishi also hinted that the automaker might someday build the Prius in the U.S. Today, the cars are made in Japan, with some being assembled in China.
