WILCOX, AZ – A Union Pacific employee, who died in a single-vehicle rollover along Highway 191, allegedly did not have a commercial driver’s license as required by state law for the truck he was driving, according to the Arizona Range News. The driver, Arthur Mendoza, 49, of Tucson, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, Errol McDonald, 49, also of Tucson, was airlifted to University Medical Center where he was treated and released.

The accident occurred at about 12:55 p.m. on Tues., May 29, when the company truck Mendoza was driving, a 2000 Volvo, was traveling northbound and ran off the road to the right. Mendoza attempted to correct, going off to the left, and then went off to the right again, running through a right-of-way fence. The truck rolled over on its top, where it came to rest.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, according to the Arizona Range News.

Mendoza had worked for Union Pacific for 30 years.
