DETROIT --- A summary of General Motors' contract with the United Auto Workers includes a mention of the automaker's plans to begin manufacturing its Chevrolet Volt in Hamtramck, Mich., in 2010, USA Today reported. The four-year labor agreement reaffirms that GM is serious about its plans for the electric vehicle, which will be able to run up to 40 miles on electricity from onboard batteries. The engine will never run the car; it will only recharge the batteries. When the car isn't in use, Volt owners will be able to fully recharge the batteries using a conventional household outlet.
