Manheim announced on June 2 that Bill Tiedemann has been named vice president of auction services. Tiedemann will report to Jamie Porter, executive vice president of operations, and will be responsible for exploring and developing new auction-based opportunities for the company. Diane Barton, formerly vice president of marketing, will succeed Tiedemann as vice president of operations - Ford. In her new position, Barton will be responsible for managing the Ford account, which includes Ford Motor Company, Ford Motor Credit, and the Trust Mark brands. She will report to Nick Peluso, senior vice president of sales. Tiedemann joined Manheim in 1989 as division operations manager. Before joining Manheim, Tiedemann served as operations manager, general sales manager and auctioneer at Portland Auto Auction, then an independent facility, for five years. In 1986, when GECARS purchased that auction, he was promoted to general manager. In 1988, he transferred to GECARS’ Denver Auto Auction in Aurora, Colo., as general manager, a position he held for one year, before joining Manheim. (Manheim acquired GECARS in 1991.) Barton started her career with Cox Enterprises, Manheim’s parent company in 1987 when she joined the marketing department of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, a Cox newspaper. In 1990, Barton joined Manheim’s marketing department as marketing communications coordinator. In July 1991, she was promoted to manager of corporate communications. Eight years later, Barton was named director of marketing, a position she held until April 2000 when she was promoted to executive director of marketing. Barton was named vice president of marketing in January 2002.
