Two women in the auto industry, Mary Barra of General Motors and Pam Nicholson of Enterprise Holdings landed on Fortune’s 2019 Most Powerful Women in Business list.

Barra, chairman and CEO of GM, placed No. 2 on this year’s list and Nicholson, CEO of Enterprise, placed No. 23 out of 50.

Barra was recognized for the moves she made while GM sales were flatlining in 2018 in order to position the automaker for future success. Her commitment to having 20 new electric-vehicle models on the market by 2023 was also recognized.

Nicholson was recognized for her role in Enterprise’s forward-looking strategy; acquisition of travel tech platform Deem; investing in fuel-delivery service Booster; and launching the U.S. car-rental industry’s first vehicle-subscription service.

Enterprise has steadily increased revenue under Nicholson’s leadership, according to the company. In 2019, the company has recorded more than $25 billion in revenue.

Women who receive this award are judged on four criteria: the size and importance of the woman’s business in the global economy, the health and direction of the business, the arc of the woman’s career, and social and cultural influence.
