ALEXANDRIA, VA – The Truck Renting and Leasing Association (TRALA) has named Michelle Miller of Naperville, Ill., and Thomas Andrews of Columbus, Ind., the TRALA Scholarship recipients for 2007. Miller and Andrews will each receive a $5,000 scholarship that is renewable for three more years of college if they maintain full-time enrollment and a minimum 3.0 grade point average. The recipients were announced on Mar. 21 at TRALA’s 2007 Annual Meeting in Palm Springs, Calif. The TRALA Scholarship rewards the children of member company employees for outstanding scholastic and personal achievements. Miller, an employee of International Truck and Engine Corp., is a member of the National Honor Society and a National Merit Finalist. She is a participant in the Naperville North State Math team, the North Suburban Math League’s math competitions, and the World Youth in Science & Engineering varsity team. Miller is also a member of the Lisle community band and a Deputy Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. She plans to major in biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Ma. Andrews, the son of Laura and Rob Andrews, a Cummins Inc. employee, is a member of the National Honor Society, National Merit finalist, Rotary Youth Leadership winner, and recipient of the men’s tennis “player of the year” award. He is also the captain of the math, science, and interdisciplinary teams of Columbus North High School and was first place in the American Math Contest 2006. He plans to study physics at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind. The TRALA Scholarship Program is supported by corporate and individual contributions from TRALA members who are committed to improving access to higher education.
