Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A., Inc., announced the sale of its one-millionth Toyota Certified Used Vehicle, a 2002 Camry, making Toyota the first single-line manufacturer to reach the million-vehicle sales mark with a certified used-car program.
Toyota celebrated this milestone by presenting a refund check for the amount of the Camry to Jeff and Tiffany Borden of Phoenix, Ariz., who purchased the car from Camelback Toyota in Phoenix.
“In addition to the refund, the couple also will receive a 100,000-mile bumper-to-bumper limited warranty from Toyota Financial Services and three years of complimentary scheduled maintenance at any Toyota dealership,” said John O’Malley, General Manager of Camelback Toyota.
All 1998-2003 model-year Toyota vehicles with less than 65,000 miles are eligible for the certified program. The process begins by checking each vehicle’s history report, followed by a 160-point quality assurance inspection of all mechanical, appearance, and safety features prior to sale. All Toyota Certified Used Vehicles come with a six-year, 100,000-mile factory powertrain warranty.
