Toyota, Porsche, General Motors and Subaru were among the big winners of Kelley Blue Book’s 2017 Best Resale Value awards that recognize vehicles expected to best retain their value over the first five years of ownership.

The awards are broken into three groups, including Best Brands, Overall Top 10 Winners and Category Winners. Toyota took  this year’s overall Best Brand award, while Porsche claimed the title on the luxury side.

"Toyota and Porsche notably capture the top brand and luxury brand awards, delivering incredible resale value across their lineup of vehicles," said Eric Ibara, KBB's director of residual values. "Reflective of the market overall, the majority of the Top 10 Best Resale Value vehicles this year are trucks and SUVs, with the exception of the Subaru WRX, which is further testament to the strength these segments will carry in the future."

While GM didn’t take home the top honor of best overall brand, it did win the highest number of awards, with seven wins across KBB's overall top 10 winners list and category winners.

Last year's winner of the overall best brand award, Subaru, earned three awards this year for its Impreza, Legacy and WRX models.  For the second year in a row, the brand's WRX also claimed a spot in the awards' top 10 best resale value list.

The top 10 2017 models expected to return the highest value after five years include the Chevrolet Colorado, Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Canyon, GMC Sierra, Honda Ridgeline, Jeep Wrangler, Subaru WRX, Toyota 4Runner, Toyota Tacoma, and Toyota Tundra.
