TOKYO —Fuji Heavy Industries formally rolled out its redesigned Subaru Impreza hatchback this week. The new Impreza goes on sale in Japan today and will be available in U.S. showrooms in August.
Fuji showed off three model variations: the base Impreza 15S, which gets a 1.5-liter engine; a midrange Impreza 20S with a 2.0-liter engine; and the Impreza S-GT with a 2.0-liter turbo engine. Reuters reported that Subaru's first diesel engine will most likely make its debut in Europe early next year. Fuji is still negotiating with Toyota over whether Subaru will offer a gas-electric hybrid variant.
