Subaru's 2017 Impreza will provide better handling and increase additional driver-assist technologies, the automaker said while unveiling the next-generation model at the New York International Auto Show.
The Impreza will arrive in late 2016 on Subaru's new global platform that enhances safety, ride comfort, and agility, according to Subaru. The 2017 Impreza will be offered as a sedan and hatchback in Premium, Sport, and Limited trim levels.
Subaru has revised the FB 2.0L four-cylinder Boxer engine by adding direct fuel injection and other performance boosters to raise horsepower to 152 from 148. The Lineartronic continuously variable transmission includes a 7-speed manual model enabled by paddle shifters mounted to the steering wheel.
The Impreza will now offer EyeSight, Subaru's safety system that includes adaptive cruise control, automatic pre-collision braking and lane departure and sway warning, plus a lane keep assist function. Optional technologies include blind spot detection and rear cross traffic alert.
