Subaru Corporation and Tesla agreed to the adoption of the North American Charging Standard (NACS) for the charging ports of Subaru's battery electric vehicles (BEVs) slated for launch in North America starting in 2025.

In an effort to provide its customers with access to Tesla's extensive charging network, Subaru will incorporate NACS ports into select Subaru BEVs introduced in North America from 2025 onwards. Furthermore, Subaru is committed to promoting the integration of NACS in its subsequent BEV models following the initial launch.

Subaru also plans to offer an adapter that allows NACS charging, starting in 2025, for customers who own or lease applicable Subaru BEVs equipped with the Combined Charging System. This move will grant NACS-compatible Subaru BEV owners access to over 15,000 Tesla Superchargers situated across North America, significantly enhancing the convenience of charging their vehicles.

Under its newly established management structure as of June 2023, Subaru has set a goal to achieve "50% of total global sales as BEVs by 2030" as a step towards contributing to carbon neutrality.

Toyota Announces Agreement

Toyota Motor North America announced a agreement in Otober 2023 with Tesla to use the NACS for its battery electric vehicles (BEVs) commencing in 2025.

As part of Toyota's strategy for vehicle electrification, offering a diverse array of electrified powertrains, customers of Toyota and Lexus will have access to an extensive network of over 12,000 Tesla Superchargers spanning North America.

This includes the introduction of an all-new, three-row, battery-electric Toyota SUV, manufactured at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky facility. Furthermore, Toyota and Lexus customers who own or lease applicable vehicles equipped with the Combined Charging System will be provided with adapters to facilitate NACS charging starting in 2025.

Hyundai & Kia America Collab With Tesla

Hyundai Motor North America and Kia America have announced collaborations in October 2023 with Tesla to enhance the electric vehicle charging landscape across North America.

Hyundai leads the charge by adopting the North American Charging Standard ports for its EVs in the U.S. and Canada, exclusively featuring NACS ports in all-new or refreshed models from Q4 2024 in the U.S. and H1 2025 in Canada.

In a parallel development, Kia America has also announced plans to integrate NACS ports into new electric vehicles from Q4 2024 in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

Kia EV owners will gain access to Tesla's Supercharger network, boasting 12,000 chargers across North America.
