Jeff Barber, owner of State Line Auction in Waverley, N.Y., was named the 2014 Remarketer of the Year. The award is sponsored by Bobit Business Media—publisher of Automotive Fleet and Vehicle Remarketing Reporter, during the Conference of Automotive Remarketing (CAR), which was held March 5-6 at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel.
Barber joined State Line Auction, which was founded by his parents — Harry and Zora — in 1981, as general manager in 1983. He became president in 1984 following the death of his father, and sole owner in 1994. The independent auction is a member of the ServNet Auction Group.
During his acceptance speech, Barber thanked his wife and children (three of whom were in the audience) for letting him pursue his auction career — which meant time away from the family.

Barber’s three children — Bethany, Paul, and Emily — were also recognized later that day as graduates of the first Auction Academy class. A fourth daughter, who is not in the business, and lives in Washington, D.C., was unable to attend. The three auction academy graduates work at State Line Auction.
