COLUMBUS, OHIO – Safelite AutoGlass unveiled a massive mural at its corporate headquarters on the northwest rim of I-270, just east of the Sawmill Road exit. The mural, created by Orange Barrel Media, showcases the company’s history in photos since 1947. It encompasses 8,981 square feet and could be seen from an airplane.
The graphic demonstrates Safelite AutoGlass’ pride at calling Columbus its U.S. headquarters as it celebrates its 60th anniversary. The mural highlights how Safelite grew to be the world's largest vehicle glass repair and replacement company.
“Safelite has been proud to call Columbus home for nearly 20 years and we now have more than 1,500 employees in Central Ohio alone,” said Dan Wilson, president and chief executive officer of Belron US of which Safelite is a part. “We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished in the past 60 years and looking forward to our growth continuing to accelerate.”
Safelite currently employs 7,000 associates nationwide and expects to have installed or repaired 3 million pieces of glass by the end of the year. In Columbus, employees will receive 13 million calls as part of its auto glass claims processing, repair and replacement operation.
We have added 1,200 employees nationwide since this time last year, with 11 percent increase in jobs in Columbus alone,” Wilson said. “We are thrilled to welcome new employees to our community.”
Boyce Safford III, Director of Development of the city of Columbus joined Wilson in unveiling the wallscape before a crowd of about 300 employees and clients.
