WASHINGTON, D.C. --- The U.S. average retail price for regular gasoline dipped 0.8 cent to land at $2.762 per gallon, as of Oct. 15. However, that was still 53.6 cents higher than last year, the Energy Department's Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported. All regions saw lower prices except the West Coast, where prices grew by 4.5 cents to $2.979 per gallon --- the highest price in the country. The average price for regular grade in California was $3.053 per gallon, up 5.7 cents from the previous week and 51.3 cents per gallon over the previous year. The East Coast price fell 1.5 cents to $2.731 per gallon. The Gulf Coast price declined by 2.5 cents to $2.642 per gallon, the lowest regional price. The Midwest price dropped 2.0 cents to $2.735 per gallon, plunging 24.4 cents since Sept. 10. The Rocky Mountain region price decreased 0.7 cent to $2.795 per gallon. Retail diesel prices registered a slight increase of 0.4 cent to settle at $3.039 per gallon, 53.6 cents per gallon higher than last year. Regional diesel prices were mixed, with the largest increase and highest price occurring on the West Coast where the price rose 6.2 cents to $3.229 per gallon. California diesel prices climbed 5.2 cents to $3.249 per gallon. The Rocky Mountain diesel price increased to $3.169 per gallon, a gain of 3.0 cents. The East Coast price fell 0.8 cent to settle at $3.023 per gallon. The Midwest diesel price was lower by 0.3 cent to hit $3.025 per gallon. The Gulf Coast continued to be the only region below the $3 mark, declining to $2.941 per gallon.
