WASHINGTON, D.C. — When President Bush cruised down Pennsylvania Avenue after he took the oath of office for his second term, he rode in an all-new Cadillac DTS limousine that's beginning its first term of service to the nation's chief executive, according to the Detroit News. It also was the first peek at the latest addition to the Cadillac lineup. The DTS sedan planned for more common citizens will make its debut at the Chicago Auto Show in early February and goes on sale this summer, replacing the DeVille. The DTS will be built at General Motors Corp.'s Detroit-Hamtramck plant. The presidential limousine is equipped with a concealed foldaway desktop, 10-disc CD changer and automatic reclining rear seats. "We are pleased that our historic relationship with the U.S. government and chief executive office has continued through the years," GM Chairman and CEO Rick Wagoner said in a statement. Cadillac has a long tradition as the ride of choice for U.S. presidents, extending back as far as Woodrow Wilson. The 1993 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham that ferried former President Bill Clinton can be seen at the Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock, Ark. The new DTS limousine will replace Bush's current ride — a 2001 Cadillac DeVille.
