General Motors Co.’s Fleet & Commercial East Region director, Gary Perry, has elected to retire after nearly 38 years of service with GM, the company stated.
“Gary has been a great representative of the company with customers, a leader within the organization and friend to all of us,” said Ed Peper, U.S. vice president of Fleet & Commercial Sales. “He has personally sold thousands of GM vehicles to customers on both the retail and commercial sides of the business. His long-term service, his dedication to our company and his determination to win will be missed.”
Perry originally joined the GM Fleet & Commercial team in 2007 as the regional fleet & commercial manager for the automaker’s Northeast Region. The company expanded his role three years ago to include GM’s Northeast and Southeast Regions.
“During my tenure at GM, I’ve had the opportunity to work with great people and great products. It has been an exciting career with an outstanding company,” said Perry. “I wish my colleagues, customers and dealers whom I’ve had the pleasure of working with all the best.”
Perry started his career at Oldsmobile in 1976 as an assistant office manager and stayed with the division for the next 18 years. Since that time, he has held numerous sales and field leadership positions with many GM brands, including Oldsmobile, Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac, and GMC.
GM stated Perry’s retirement will be effective Sept. 1, 2013. The company has not yet named a successor.
