Dave Durepo, fleet manager for Superior Chevrolet and past president of the Automotive Fleet & Leasing Association (AFLA), will retire on Dec. 18, 2020, after 45 years in the fleet and commercial business.
He joined Superior Chevrolet in July 2006 where he manages delivery processing and the delivery of fleet vehicles for major fleet management companies and Fortune 500 Companies. Durepo was the president of AFLA in 2019 and is now the immediate past president. He served on the AFLA Board of Directors for seven years and was the director for dealers until later being elected vice president.
He has also served on every AFLA Task Force, and is presently the sponsorship chairman. He was responsible as the conference chairman for the 2018 AFLA Conference.
During Durepo’s AFLA presidency, Mike Antich, chair of the AFLA Global Fleet Task Force and AFLA Executive Director Bill Elliott partnered AFLA with the Mexico Fleet Manager Group in 2018, which itself was founded in 2013. The purpose of the partnership was to create a Mexico Advisory Board to provide AFLA multinational companies an opportunity to facilitate the dissemination of best practices to both Mexican and U.S. fleets.
Earlier in his career, he was the inventory fleet manager for Ginn Motor Company, and before that served as the truck manager for Farnsworth Chevrolet.
“My first new Chevrolets I sold were 1974s,” he said. “I will be taking a year off and we will reevaluate things in the fleet industry.”
Replacing Durepo at Superior Chevrolet is Jim Lively, who Durepo said he has been training over the last several weeks. Lively has over 30 years of automotive experience.
Durepo said he has started a consulting business called Automotive Fleet Solutions, and can be reached at dd.nvac@outlook.com.
