Nissan Sets Goal to Introduce a New Vehicle Every Six Weeks for Six Years

YOKOHAMA – Nissan’s President and CEO Carlos Ghosn announced a plan to produce an all-new vehicle every six weeks for six years. Called its “Power 88” plan, the 88 refers to the automaker’s goal of achieving 8 percent global market share and increasing its operating profit to 8 percent.
The company plans for its global product lineup to consist of 66 vehicles and cover 92 percent of all markets and segments.
Other aspects of the plan include a focus on “sustainable mobility,” which includes building zero-emission and low-emission technologies that support the company’s “PURE DRIVE” initiative. The company said it plans to introduce 15 new technologies per year over the six-year period.
Nissan said it will focus on new cars and what it’s calling “light commercial vehicles,” or LCVs, for entry-level segments and emerging markets. Ghosn said the company also plans to develop its Infiniti brand further and grow its light commercial businesses.
