Nissan Recalls Murano, Maxima for Fire Risk
The recall covers more than 120,000 vehicles equipped with antilock brake actuator pumps that might allow brake fluid to leak onto a circuit board.

Nissan North America is recalling 120,329 2016-2017 model-year Nissan Maxima, 2015-2017 MY Murano, and 2015-2016 MY Murano Hybrid vehicles to address a fire risk related to potential brake fluid leaking, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The Maxima cars were manufactured from Feb. 10, 2015, to Aug. 19, 2016, and are equipped with Intelligent Cruise Control. The Murano crossovers, also equipped with Intelligent Cruise Control, were manufactured from Aug. 22, 2014, to Aug. 19, 2016. The Murano Hybrid vehicles were manufactured from Aug. 22, 2014, to July 19, 2016.
In these vehicles, the antilock brake (ABS) actuator pumps may allow brake fluid to leak onto an internal electrical circuit board. This might result in an electrical short, increasing the risk of a fire, NHTSA said.
Nissan dealers will inspect the ABS actuator and, if necessary, replace it.
If brake fluid does leak onto the circuit board, the ABS warning lamp may remain illuminated for more than 10 seconds after engine startup. If this occurs prior to having the recall remedy completed, drivers are advised to not drive the vehicle. Additionally, the car should be parked outdoors, away from other vehicles or structures, NHTSA warned on its website.
