AUBURN HILLS, MI – Chrysler LLC and Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. recently announced two new agreements for the supply of products between both companies, according to Chrysler. Under an expanded product-sharing alliance, Chrysler LLC will become Nissan's full-sized pickup truck manufacturer, while Nissan will make subcompacts for Chrysler.
In exchange, Chrysler will have a Nissan-based sedan, built at Nissan's Oppama, Japan, factory to Chrysler's own design starting in 2010. The new car is destined for North America, Europe, and other global markets. The small car will be built on a new Nissan platform to an already-completed Chrysler design, according to Chrysler co-President Tom LaSorda.
