Lexus unveiled its fourth-generation RX SUV at the New York International Auto Show with bolder styling and additional safety features for its top seller.

For 2016, Lexus will offer a pair of RX models, including the RX 350 with available F Sport performance package and RX 450h hybrid model. Lexus has reworked the RX with a new front end with a spindle grille, more aggressive front bumper and available triple L-shaped LED headlamps.

The vehicle includes blacked-out C-pillars, newly available 20-inch wheels, and several new interior features such as a 12.3-inch monitor with full-screen map. The 2016 RX will arrive with Michelin's Premier LTX tires that provide stopping power even after wear on wet roads, according to the automaker.

Lexus has upgraded the vehicle's 3.5L V-6 so it now delivers 300 hp with direct injection. The vehicle also gets a new 8-speed automatic transmission. The RX 450h uses this Atkinson cycle V-6 and also achieves about 300 hp when paired with an electric motor.

The 2016 RX will also offer the new Lexus Safety System+ safety technology package that includes a pedestrian pre-collision system using radar to detect pedestrians and a radar-based dynamic cruise control.

The 2016 RX 350 measures 192.5 inches in length and has a 109.8-inch wheelbase.

Commercial fleets added 1,038 Lexus RX SUVs in 2013.
