ISELIN, N.J. – An education resource and tool for fleet management professionals, the “NAFA Request for Proposals Guide" CD-ROM which offers step-by-step instruction on when and how to write a successful RFP that meets a company’s end goals was announced on April 21, announced the National Association of Fleet Administrators (NAFA). This new NAFA education product, the second such educational CD-ROM published this year by NAFA, debuted at the association’s annual Fleet Management Institute (FMI) and Law Enforcement Group Conference held in Grapevine, Texas. “Fleet managers will recognize the guide as a valuable resource when writing the ‘statement of work’ section for services and commodities,” said NAFA Senior Vice President Gayle Pratt, manager, purchasing and fleet of Ecolab’s Global Operations and NAFA education leader for this project. Pratt led the 2005 FMI session focusing on the RFP process from the fleet manager’s perspective, as well as briefly introducing this new practical tool. The NAFA education CD reviews RFP basics, elements of an RFP, the evaluation and award process, and valuable Statement of Work examples aligned with NAFA defined fleet management disciplines. Developed by NAFA members and fleet managers who are experienced with the highly marketable RFP skills, the CD-ROM format offers:
Fast and easy-to-use navigation.
Direct access to numerous sample, reference documents, and glossary.
Short cuts and quick links to specific areas of interest such as Process Flow and Statement of Work.
Samples.
Pratt explains how fleet professionals will save time and effort, while increasing their RFP’s effectiveness by “(using) the example questions or sections in the work statements…(fleet managers) don’t have to re-create an entire document. (The CD-ROM) will save hours in writing sections of the RFP, and hours in evaluating the RFP responses.” Information on ordering: the NAFA Request for Proposals Guide, CD-ROM can be accessed in the NAFA online store, or by calling (732) 494-8100. The cost for the CD is $99 U.S. for NAFA members and affiliates, and $125 U.S. for non-members. Shipping and handling charges are additional.
