Tony Moorby, former president/CEO of ADT Automotive who is now with Manheim Auctions; and Tom Kniivila, remarketing manager for Volkswagen Credit/Audi Financial Services, were inducted into the Auto Auction Hall of Fame. The two were honored at the National Auto Auction Association’s (NAAA) 52nd Convention and Exposition in Washington, DC, which took place Sept. 5-10, 2000. Also during the convention, four people were cited for special recognition. Kenny Aycock, founder of Aycock Auto Auction in Kenly, NC, received the Bernie Hart Annual Auctioneer Trophy. This newly created trophy recognizes an auctioneer’s contributions to the wholesale auto auction industry, length of service and reputation within a region. Sherwin Williams, an NAAA associate member and long-time industry supporter, sponsors the new award. Don Rogers, past NAAA president and Hall of Famer, received the Pioneer Award. It recognized an individual who, throughout their career in the auto auction business, has helped build the foundation that has created today’s wholesale auto auction industry. Rogers has served in the industry for more than 50 years.
