Minnesota Attorney General Mike Hatch made a plea May 22 to the U.S. Federal Trade Commission urging them to block the merger between Conoco Inc. and Phillips Petroleum Corp. According to WorldFuels.com, a Hatch spokeswoman confirmed that he feels the merger is anti-competitive and will lead to higher gasoline prices for local consumers. In addition, Hatch recently sent a letter to the FTC imploring them to block the merger, stating, “[s]omewhere along the line, we’ve got to put our foot down.”
