Marvin McClain, CAFM, has left his role as director of corporate fleet management at the American Red Cross to manage a nationwide healthcare fleet in a similar role, McClain told Automotive Fleet.
As the corporate director of fleet management and operations for Kindred at Home, McClain is responsible for nationwide fleet vehicle management policies and oversight.
McClain has been busy setting up a fleet management program for Kindred at Home, which has seen its vehicle count grow from 300 units in 2018 to 3,500 units and counting, he said.
McClain has been a visible figure in the corporate fleet industry, appearing on panels at fleet events and regularly appearing at the American Fleet & Leasing Association's annual conference. He is currently a member of AFLA's conference committee.
McClain served in various fleet-related roles with the American Red Cross since joining the organization in June 2012. He started as national fleet operations manager and was named enterprise fleet director in May 2016. In November 2018, he was named to his most recent position.
The American Red Cross operates 8,000 vehicles in the U.S. and its territories.
Prior to his time with the American Red Cross, McClain served as fleet director with Synagro in 2011. He was also a senior manager of fleet procurement with Coca-Cola Enterprises from April 2009 to October 2010. He began his fleet career as fleet services manager with the state of Georgia.
