Mazda will offer the front-wheel CX-5 in three trim grades, including Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring. Mazda's i-Active all-wheel drive is optional. The 2017 CX-5 with an automatic transmission retails for $490 more than the comparable 2016.5 model-year vehicle. Mazda no longer offers a manual transmission.

The 2017 CX-5 will offer several equipment options, including the Preferred ($780) and i-ActiveSense ($625) packages for the Touring model and the Premium ($1,830) package for the Grand Touring model. The Preferred package adds a Bose 10-speaker audio system, power liftgate, navigation, and automatic headlights. The i-ActiveSense package adds high beam control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, radar-based cruise control, and smart brake support.

The Premium package adds an active driving display with traffic sign recognition, power front passenger seat, heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, and windshield wiper de-icer.
