General Motors will be allowing non-GM vehicles on its peer-to-peer carsharing platform, Maven, by the middle of 2019, reports Automotive News.
Currently, owners and lessees of GM vehicles from the 2015 model year and newer can offer their vehicles on Maven when they're not in use, with revenue split 60-40 between the vehicle owner and GM. The manufacturer is expected to keep the model year requirement for all vehicles.
“Maven is always looking for new ways to impress our members. Our peer offering is doing well and we're looking to provide more people with the opportunity to earn passive income," according to a GM statement provided to Auto Rental News.
The announcement came during a presentation Monday at the UBS Global Technology Conference in San Francisco.
