Manheim hosted an industry-first, nationwide sales event on May 5, called the “One Hundred Grander.” Each of the 83 vehicles offered was valued at more than $100,000. Bentley, Ferrari, Mercedes, Porsche, Rolls Royce, and many other luxury nameplates ran through the lanes at Manheim Auto Auction in Manheim, Pa., as well as via Simulcast to a worldwide audience. More than 300 dealers attended both the live sale, where 70 of the vehicles were on site, and the ensuing cinema sale, which presented the remaining 13 ultra-luxury automobiles directly from consigning dealers’ lots and other Manheim facilities across the country. The first car across the block, a Bentley, sold for $176,000. In all, 36 vehicles sold for a total of $4.2 million, or an average of approximately $117,000 each.

The “One Hundred Grander” was an exclusive, one-day-only event. Manheim staff, led by General Manager Greg Gehman, and supported by Deni Hostetter, director of dealer sales, Ron St. Denis, director of online operations, and Lisa Burkholder, director of marketing, expects 150 consignments and increased Simulcast and cinema sale participation at the next “One Hundred Grander” event, slated for Wednesday, August 25, 2004.
