Long Island University Invests in Environmentally Friendly Electric Vehicle
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Facilities Services department at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University has added an electric vehicle to its fleet.
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Facilities Services department at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University has added an electric vehicle to its fleet. The new vehicle, which arrived on Jun. 26, is ideal transportation for facilities supervisors who oversee day-to-day maintenance of the campus’ buildings and grounds across 307 acres, according to www.cwpost.liu.edu.
This electric-powered vehicle can travel an average of 50 miles on an estimated $2 worth of electricity, saving money and reducing emissions. The vehicle does not use gas and features a handy push-button operation to select forward or reverse.
The car is manufactured by Miles Electric Vehicles of Santa Monica, Calif., whose cars and trucks are used on various campuses around the country, such as Stanford and Yale University, as well as by NASA, the U.S. Navy, and the National Park Service.
The campus hopes to add more electric cars to its fleet. The campus obtained the vehicle from the local vendor Motorworks Clean Vehicles in Amityville, N.Y.
