The Toledo, Ohio-built Jeep Wrangler topped the list of most American vehicles on Cars.com's American-Made Index, which also listed Ford, GM, and Honda vehicles built in the Midwest and South.
This year, Cars.com revamped the list so it features cars assembled in the U.S. with high domestic parts content, predominant U.S. sourcing for engines and transmissions, and high U.S. manufacturing jobs supported per vehicle, according to Cars.com. The index de-emphasized overall sales.
Jeep vehicles took the top two slots on the index. The Wrangler was followed by the Jeep Cherokee, which is also built in Toledo, as well as Belvidere, Ill. The trio of Ford vehicles on the list, include the Taurus (built in Chicago), F-150 (Dearborn, Mich., and Claycomo, Mo.), and Expedition (Louisville, Ky.).
General Motors' GMC Acadia made the list in the eighth slot. The mid-size SUV is built in Spring Hill, Tenn.
Four Honda/Acura vehicles made the list, including the three Honda models built in Lincoln, Ala. — the Ridgeline, Odyssey, and Pilot. The Acura RDX is built in East Liberty, Ohio.
Cars.com analyzed 120 models as part of the process.
