In Memoriam: Bob Starr, 1931-2010
Retired General Motors employee Bob Starr passed away July 5 at age 79. While at GM, Starr served multiple job responsibilities within the sales organization.
GERMANTOWN, TN - Robert William Starr, a retired 45-year General Motors employee, passed away July 5. He was 79. Starr had recently undergone major surgery June 22, having his aortic valve to the heart replaced and also two bypasses.
While at GM, Starr served multiple job responsibilities within the sales organization. He worked at both Buick and Chevrolet, reaching the upper levels of sales management and eventually was named general sales manager of Chevrolet.
Starr is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara Massey Starr, three children, one brother, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. A service was held July 8 at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to either the Salvation Army or The Church Health Center.
