Illinois Sees Gas Prices Drop More than $1 a Gallon in One Month

"After a spring and summer of extremely high prices, consumers are now enjoying relief at the pump as prices have decreased significantly," said Beth Mosher, AAA Chicago's spokesperson. "Prices are falling daily and are much lower than they were both a month and a year ago. This is providing consumers with such much needed relief as the economy overall continues to struggle."
In northern Indiana, gas prices averaged $2.19, down 99 cents from October and down 93 cents from a year ago.
• In Cook County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.52, down $1.08 compared to last month and 72 cents lower than last year's price-per-gallon.
• In DuPage County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.37 per gallon, a decrease of $1.09 from October and 78 cents lower than last year.
• In Kane County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.37 per gallon, $1.04 lower compared to last month and 78 cents lower than October 2007's price.
• In Lake County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.34 per gallon, $1.02 lower than last month and down by 80 cents compared to this time last year.
• In McHenry County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.35 per gallon, $1.06 lower than October's average and 81 cents lower than October 2007's price.
• In Will County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.32 per gallon, $1.15 lower compared to last month and 85 cents lower compared to last year.
• In Champaign County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averaged $1.96 per gallon, a decrease of $1.07 from October and a decrease of $1.22 from last year.
• In McLean County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.04 per gallon, 92 cents lower than last month and $1.12 lower than last year.
• In Peoria County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averaged $1.98 per gallon, a 93 cent decrease compared to last month and a decrease of $1.21 from October 2007.
• In Sangamon County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averaged $1.93 per gallon, $1.14 lower than last month and $1.20 lower than last year.
• In Winnebago County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.27 per gallon, a decrease of 98 cents from October and a decrease of 97 cents from October 2007.
• In Allen County, Ind., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averaged $1.96 per gallon, a decrease of $1.09 from last month and $1.19 lower than October 2007's price.
• In Lake County, Ind., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.19 per gallon, a $1.01 decrease from October's average and a 94 cent decrease from a year ago.
• In Porter County, Ind., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.18 per gallon, 93 cents lower than last month and 91 cents lower than last year.
• In St. Joseph County, Ind., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.03 per gallon, 95 cents lower compared to last month and $1.14 lower compared to last year.
