Hyundai is adding Apple CarPlay smartphone integration to its 2016 Sonata mid-size sedan, and may offer it on 2015 models, according to a release.
Hyundai had added Android Auto to the 2015 Sonata, and vowed to bring CarPlay to its 2016 lineup in late 2015. Android Auto is again available in 2016.
Both platforms are available on the Sonata's 7-inch Display Audio touchscreen and 8-inch navigation systems.
Hyundai will announce availability about CarPlay for the 2016 Sonata Hybrid and plug-in hybrid Sonata at a later date. An announcement about CarPlay support for 2015 Sonatas will come in the "near future." These updates require a specific version of the on-board navigation map and Hyundai is developing a solution, which will provide both the map update and CarPlay support at no additional cost.
