Hybrid and Car-Sharing Program to Launch in Kauai
Through a partnership between GreenCar Hawaii and the Grand Hyatt Kauai, visitors will be able to rent hybrid SUVs directly from the hotel.
GreenCar Hawaii, a startup car rental and car-sharing service based in Kauai, will launch a pilot program to rent hybrid vehicles to tourists in the spring, according to Pacific Business News.
The company, which has a fleet of four to six Ford Escape hybrid SUVs, will rent the vehicles at the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa.
Guests will be able to make reservations at an hourly rate of $15, which includes fuel and insurance costs, from a kiosk in the hotel lobby, Co-founder Justin MacNaughton told the Pacific Business News.
Guests are given a voucher which they can take to the hotel's valet to pick up their vehicles.
"It's a self-service model that we hope to replicate throughout the hospitality industry," MacNaughton told Pacific Business News.
