Honda Joins H2USA Partnership to Promote Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles and Infrastructure
American Honda Motor Co, Inc partners with the Department of Energy and others to promote commercial and private use of fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs).
American Honda Motor Co, Inc. commits to a new partnership with the Department of Energy, other automakers, and related stakeholders in pursuance of promoting the commercial introduction and widespread adoption of fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs), said Steven Center, VP of Environmental Business Development.
Honda is the first company to lease a hydrogen-powered FCEV, the Honda FCX, to retail consumers in the U.S., according to Center.
On May 10, 2011, Honda opened the world's first hydrogen refueling station supplied by an existing hydrogen pipeline located in Torrance, Calif., according to Honda’s website. In California, there are currently nine public hydrogen refueling stations, 12 public refueling stations in development, and 15 private refueling stations, according to the California Air Resources board.
