DETROIT --- As part of its "Project Driveway" deployment plan, General Motors intends to build more than 100 Chevrolet Equinox fuel cell vehicles and begin placing them with drivers in the fall of 2007, reported Technology News Daily. Project Driveway represents the first major market test of fuel cell vehicles, GM said. A wide range of drivers will operate the vehicles and refuel with hydrogen in three U.S. locations: California, the New York metropolitan area, and Washington D.C. The Equinox fuel cell vehicle will operate with GM's fourth-generation fuel cell propulsion system. The crossover vehicle will be engineered for 50,000 miles of life.
