DETROIT – General Motors announced retail pricing for its all-new 2013-MY Chevrolet Malibu Eco mid-size sedan, which will start at $25,995. The automaker also announced the standard features for this model.

The Eco version of the new Malibu will get 26 city, 38 highway mpg, thanks to the vehicle’s eAssist battery electric/gas propulsion system. The eAssist system works with a 2.4L Ecotec direct-injection four-cylinder engine and six-speed automatic transmission.

The Eco is the first trim level of the all-new Malibu lineup that will launch in the U.S., according to GM. The automaker said other Malibu trim levels, including LS, LT, and LTZ, are scheduled to begin production next summer in Fairfax, Kan. and Detroit-Hamtramck.

GM is offering the Malibu Eco with cloth or leather seats in eight exterior and three interior color choices. It comes in four equipment packages: Package 1 – Power Convenience; Package 2 – Premium Audio; Package 3 – Leather; and Package 4 – Navigation.

GM said that the Malibu Eco comes with a five-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty and a three-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper limited warranty. In addition, the automaker said certain eAssist components are covered by an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty. That warranty includes the electric motor generator, three-phase electric power cables, and high-voltage lithium-ion battery.

The standard and trim-level-specific content is as follows:
