General Motors will recall more than a quarter-million 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade SUVs to repair a problem with the passenger-side airbag. Testing which showed that the airbags exceeded the government limit for neck injuries after their deployment prompted the recall, which includes 279,132 vehicles built through last April. GM says that the problem was fixed after April 1999 by adjusting the airbags. The recall will cost an estimated $10-20 million.
