General Motors is adding more than 1,200 jobs to its Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Plant as part of a new second shift that will nearly double its workforce at the plant for producing passenger cars.
The plant will now employ about 2,800 people to build five cars. The plant currently builds the Chevrolet Volt, Impala, Malibu, and Cadillac ELR on a single production line. The plant begins production of the Cadillac CT6 in early 2016.
