GM Concept Vehicles to Go Into Future Production

The Chevrolet Traverse and SSR are among the six GM concept vehicles which will find their way into production no later than the 2004-model year.
The SSR, a two-seat convertible pickup with a hot rod image, is set to appear in showrooms in 2002, while the Traverse, a crossover hatchback sedan based on a 4-wheel-drive pickup platform, should be launched in 2004. The vehicles were among those shown by GM in January 2000 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit
According to Ron Zarella, president of GM North America, “Right now we have more mid-size sedans than we need. During the next round of introductions, we will clean up the overlap of products.”
In addition to the SSR and Traverse, GM will launch a new Blazer in the 2002-model year, which will be a larger vehicle than the current model and will feature a new all-aluminum engine.
