The price of a gallon of unleaded gasoline fell 5.7 cents to $2.745 for the week ending July 27, according to federal records.
The national average gasoline price is now 79.4 cents lower than it was a year ago, and fell in eight of the nine regions tracked by the U.S. Energy Information Administration. The Midwest region saw the sharpest one-week decline of 8.8 cents to $2.583. The Rocky Mountain region saw the only increase during the week of 1.5 cents to $2.856.
