Gasoline Falls to $2.26 Per Gallon
The price of regular gasoline continued to decline over the holidays and reached an average of $2.266 per gallon for the week ending Dec. 31, which was 5.5 cents lower that the prior week, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

The price of regular gasoline continued to decline over the holidays and reached an average of $2.266 per gallon for the week ending Dec. 31, which was 5.5 cents lower that the prior week, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
A gallon of regular unleaded was 25.4 cents lower than a year ago, and saw its sharpest decline in the Midwest, where the average price fell 7.6 cents to $2.005. Gasoline in that region fell to 44.8 cents lower than a year ago. Other regions that saw at least a 5-cent price decline included the Lower Atlantic (5.2 cents to $2.097), Gulf Coast (5.5 cents to $1.926), and Rocky Mountain (5.6 cents to $2.429) regions tracked by the agency.
Meanwhile, the average price of a gallon of diesel fell 2.9 cents to $3.048 on the week, which is 7.5 cents higher than a year ago.
