Gasoline, Diesel Prices Rise
WASHINGTON, D.C. --- The U.S. average retail price for regular gasoline rose 1.4 cents to reach $2.254 per gallon as of Feb. 27, which is 32.6 cents higher than last year, the Energy Department reported.

Prices varied throughout the country, with the Midwest seeing the largest increase of 9.2 cents to reach $2.259 per gallon. East Coast prices dropped 2.1 cents to hit $2.235 per gallon. West Coast prices, still the highest in the nation, dropped 2.7 cents to $2.383 per gallon. California prices lost 3.4 cents to drop to $2.439 per gallon, according to the Energy Department's Energy Information Administration (EIA). Retail diesel fuel prices increased by 1.6 cents to reach $2.471 per gallon as of Feb. 27. That's 35.3 cents higher than last year. Prices climbed throughout the country, with West Coast prices seeing the largest hike of 2.9 cents to reach $2.623 per gallon --- the highest regional price in the country. Midwest prices gained 1.9 cents to $2.417 per gallon. East Coast diesel fuel prices gained just 0.6 cent to reach $2.493 per gallon.
