Four GM Vehicles Named Top in Segment, According to a J.D. Power Study
Four GM vehicles were named the top model in their segment in the recently released 2001 J.D. Power Automotive Performance Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study: Pontiac Aztek (entry SUV segment), Chevrolet Trailblazer (midsize SUV), Cadillac Escalade (luxury SUV), and Chevrolet Corvette (Premium Sport). In addition, GM had five vehicles that finished second in their segment: Pontiac Grand Am (entry midsize), Buick LeSabre (full-size car), Cadillac DeVille (mid-luxury), GMC Sierra HD (full-size pickup), and GMC Envoy (midsize SUV). GM also had three vehicles that came in third in their segment: Pontiac Firebird (sporty cars), Chevrolet Silverado HD (full-size pickup), and Chevrolet Tahoe (full-size SUV). The APEAL study gauges features and attributes that make car and truck models stand out to their owners. After three months of ownership, new car and truck buyers and lessees are asked to rate approximately 115 attributes of their vehicle, ranging from seat comfort to quality of interior workmanship.
