Ford’s F-150 full-size pickup truck topped Cars.com’s American-Made Index, which analyzes the domestic parts content, the final assembly point, and sales for different vehicles.
From 2009 through 2012, Toyota’s Camry topped the list, but the sedan is now in the number two spot. This is the first time in four years that a domestic automaker’s vehicle has taken the top spot in Cars.com’s Index.
For the 2013 Index, the list is split evenly between domestic and foreign makes, and Toyota has the brand with the largest number of vehicles ranked, keeping in line with that company’s strategy to manufacture vehicles in the markets they are sold in. For the other automakers, General Motors has a total of three models in the list and Chrysler, Ford, and Honda each have one vehicle on the list.
