Ford's Transit has supplanted the E-Series van as the top seller in the U.S. market. Ford offers the Transit in 58 configurations. Ford introduced the Transit with the 2015 model year, and added a dual sliding door option for the 2016 model year.
The Transit has been adopted by fleets as an emergency response vehicle, food truck, and mobile dog grooming studio. It's helping businesses transport equipment to job sites and shuttle passengers to destinations, according to Ford.
Ford held 56 percent of the market share for van sales as of June. Nearly seven of 10 compact commercial vans are Transit Connects, and that vehicle increased sales by 43 percent in the first half of 2015.
