Ford is updating the styling on its F-150 for the 2018 model year to give its half-ton pickup a more "confident and capable" look, Ford has announced. Ford previously announced details about the new engine lineup for the 2018 F-150.

For 2018, the F-150 incorporates signature F-Series design language such as the billet-milled visual cues and broad stance, while harmonizing it with the 2017 Super Duty makeover, including a billet-milled body for a new look.

New exterior styling updates include a horizontal twin-bar grille, new C-clamp headlamps that wrap tightly to the grille, available LED lighting, signature daytime running lamps, as well as a chamfered nose and fenders.

From a profile view, the truck using existing signature F-Series cues such as the drop-down in the front doors, wheel openings, and wheel and tire proportions. Large-diameter tires wrap six new wheel designs ranging from 17 to 22 inches.

New functional features include traditional frame-mounted bumpers and more minimized plastic covers or fascia.

From the rear, a billet-milled treatment wraps around the fenders, taillamps, and tailgate. The taillamps provide good illumination, and the F-150 badge on the tailgate is replaced with the stamped-in nameplate of popular XL, XLT, or Lariat trim levels, while premium King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited series feature a unique satin chrome appliqué, according to Ford.

The 2018 Ford F-150 will be available in the fall.
