Ford has begun production of the 2015 F-150 pickup at the Kansas City Assembly Plant about four months after it began building aluminum-body trucks at its Dearborn Truck Plant in Michigan.

The Kansas City plant will produce all F-150 models and cab configurations, as well as a truck with an 8-foot cargo box and heavy payload package for commercial fleet customers, according to Ford.

The 2015 F-150 appears to be off to a fast start, as they are staying on dealer lots for an average of 18 days, which is below the industry average of 105 days for a light-duty pickup, according to Ford.

Ford retooled the Kansas City plant with a $1.1-billion investment so it could support production of the F-150 and new Transit full-size van.
